Codependency is a behavioural condition in which the sufferer has a low self esteem and relies on the validation of others for a sense of purpose. They fail to set boundaries and organize their life around others, and so are unable to make their own needs a priority.

Codependency often begins in childhood, caregivers not fullfilling the childs needs, neglect or abuse, physically or emotionally. These patterns, if left undressed, will play out in their future lives, over and over, until a change is implemented.
